| Set the path of your own destiny with Careers, a board game that allows you to choose your goals. The three personal attainments for this game are fame, fortune, and happiness. You must decide how many points you will earn in each category - just as long as they all three equal up to sixty points (the point minimum can be modified, depending on how many players are participating). You decide what is ultimately your "success formula" and then try to follow that path. A person may choose up to eight different occupations, as shown as separate paths on the game board, and as often as he or she wants (although the path to college may only be used once). Points are earned by landing on spaces containing hearts (which represent happiness), stars (which represent fame), and dollar signs (which represent fortune). Certain occupations provide more possibilities to earning distinct attainments than other occupations. For example: Farming provides more opportunities to land on the happiness spaces, whereas politics provides more fame spaces. Movement around the board is determined by the throw of the dice (so there is an element of luck present), and completing occupations allows players the chance to earn "experience cards" that help you to obtain you ultimate goal. Those who complete the same occupation three times earn the right to retire. The first player to accomplish his or her goals (as outlined by the personal "success formula") wins!
